UEFA Champions League Tips: Feb 19, 2020

Graeme Written on Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

I must admit I am really looking forward to the UEFA Champions League games today. Just annoying that they both kick off at the same time.

After spending time analyzing them both thoroughly I am looking forward to seeing if I was right, and learning more about the teams on the European stage in the knockout rounds.

In case you missed it, I have tips for Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund vs PSG posted.

Today we will cover the next two games which are taking place on Wednesday, February 19th.

That sees Atalanta host Valencia and Tottenham host RB Leipzig.

Let’s look into them now:

Atalanta vs Valencia Betting Tips:

It’s truly amazing that Atalanta are even in here. They lost their opening 3 games and it looked like they were goners. However they were able to claw it back with a draw against Man City, and then convincing wins over Zagreb and Shakhtar to see them through.

Domestically they have been sound and find themselves comfortably in 4th in Serie A.

Valencia won Group H over Chelsea, Ajax and Lille. Notably they performed well away with wins over Chelsea and Ajax and a draw against Lille. They would have beat Lille if not for a 90th minute goal.

Dometically they are 7th and currently battling for ANY European spot they can get. They have been inconsistent with some big wins followed by key losses.

Atalanta are 1.72 favourites here. It will be interesting see if they stick to all out attacking or if they will be more conservative over two legs. Valencia are a dangerous team on the counter as we saw against Chelsea and Barcelona.

On paper, this one ought to have goals. Just have to worry if the sides play it cautious. Valencia however are missing their two main center backs which is tough.

I would probably back Valencia or Draw here if not for that. I’m concerned about teams approaching it cautiously, but will take the over and hope it’s the type of cracker of a match that these kind of tactics can deliver.

Tottenham vs RB Leipzig Betting Tips:

Spurs made it here by coming an easy 2nd in Group B. They got thumped by Munich at both turns however did the business in the rest of the matches.

Domestically they have been on a good run with 3 wins in the league including of course that 2-0 victory over Man City.

RB Leipzig won their group. They are crushing it domestically as well and are 2nd in the league, just one point behind Bayern. They had a few struggled but bounced back on the weekend with a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen.

This is an extremely tight one to call. The Germans are great offensively and it will be interesting seeing if Mourinho can stop them. I watched RB Leipzigs game against Munich and felt they should have won there.

Mourinho can be great at neutering teams but I don’t know if he has that at Spurs yet. To me it’s more about whether Leipzig win or draw. I’d be surprised if Spurs pull it off although props to them if they do so.

I just think Leipzig are an excellent team and have the ability to take this one.

Atalanta vs Valencia

Under 5 cards @1.90

This card line seems to be incredibely high but then again 2 teams from south-europe go h2h so it’s probably justified? Still english ref is in this match so perhaps he actually let’s these sides to play (a little) more aggressively and dont intend to show card after every foul …
Also during the last 9 matches M. Olivier didnt show more than 5 cards not a single team so i expect him to keep similar line here …

It took 79 minutes for Michael Oliver to show first (and only) card of the game 🙂
